At the heart of this design sits the St John Paul II Catholic School logo, placed in the centre to represent the school as a meeting place of learning, faith, culture and community. The centre shows that the school is more than a building; it is a place where children are nurtured, families are welcomed, and strong futures begin.
Surrounding the logo are layered circles and flowing symbols that represent the many people connected to the school, students, families, teachers, staff, Elders, Parish, and the wider community. Each shape and pathway reflects the idea that everyone comes from different journeys but meets here with a shared purpose: to grow, to learn, and to care for one another.
The circular patterns symbolise connection and belonging. In Aboriginal storytelling through art, circles can represent gathering places, and here they speak to classrooms, friendship groups, family circles, and community gatherings. The repeated shapes around the centre show that learning ripples outward; from the child to the family, to the community, and back again. The flowing lines and pathways represent the journey of each student. They show movement, growth and guidance; the way children are supported as they walk through school life – building knowledge, character and identity. These pathways also honour the importance of walking together: school and community side by side. The use of green and red reflects life, growth, strength and spirit. Green speaks to the land, renewal and hope. Red carries the energy of community, courage and love. Together, these colours reflect a living school community that is grounded, vibrant and connected.
This design tells the story of a school at the centre of a wider community. A place where culture is respected, faith is lived, and every child is supported to thrive. It celebrates the shared responsibility of raising strong young people who know where they belong and who they are.
